Case Overview

CHICAGO, April 15, 2025 – Today, consumer-rights law firm FeganScott announced that it has launched an investigation into Medical Express Ambulance (MedEx), one of Illinois’ largest private ambulance services, following confirmation from the company and the Attorney General of Maine that patient health information and employee personal information belonging to more than 118,000 individuals was stolen during a large-scale cyber attack.

According to the company’s statement, on March 18, 2024, “MedEx experienced a network disruption that impacted the functionality and access of certain systems.” During the disruption, an unauthorized third party accessed MedEx’s system. The information accessed may include:

  • Full names
  • Birth dates
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Medical and insurance information
  • Login Credentials
  • Or even passport details for some individuals

“It’s especially alarming that, while MedEx suffered a significant security issue one year ago, it only just began notifying affected patients and employees this week,” said Elizabeth Fegan, managing partner at FeganScott. “Such an extensive delay enables cybercriminals to have free reign with patient health information and employee personal information, denying them the opportunity to take steps to protect themselves.”

Individuals who have received a notice letter or used MedEx’s services are urged to contact FeganScott to learn more about their rights at contact@feganscott.com.
