An investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has led to the arrest of Dr. Oumair Aejaz who has been charged with multiple sex crimes against his patients. According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, for more than six years, Dr. Aejaz used hidden cameras to record women and children in the hospitals where he worked and engaged in sexual activity with female patients while they were either asleep or unconscious. The news release alleges that Dr. Aejaz placed hidden cameras at Goldfish Swim School, a local swim club, as well.

According to various media reports, Dr. Aejaz is known to have practiced and/or placed hidden cameras at:

  • Henry Ford Macomb Hospital (Clinton Township)
  • Henry Ford Macomb Hospital (Clinton Township)
  • Goldfish Swim School

What happened?

The investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office began after detectives received a tip about Aejaz on August 7, 2024. He was arrested the following day at his home.

As of August 13, 2024, Dr. Aejaz has been charged with:

  • Child sexually abusive activity
  • Using a computer to create and or reproduce child sexually abusive material
  • Capturing / recording children under the age of 18 while nude
  • Capturing / recording women over the age of 18 while nude
  • Using a computer to commit a crime

During the investigation, detectives confiscated six computers, four cell phones and 15 hard drives. According to reports from the Sheriff’s Office, one device contained over 13,000 videos Aejaz recorded over the last six years. Authorities estimate it could take them 6 months to review all the evidence.
