Before co-founding FeganScott, Tim spent ten years as a partner in a boutique law firm, where he managed the litigation department and represented both individuals and businesses. He represented people throughout northern Illinois who had suffered serious injuries in automobile accidents, from defective products, unsafe premises and construction sites, workplace incidents, elder abuse, and the willful and wanton conduct of government officials, recovering millions of dollars in settlements and judgments on their behalf. He has also successfully prosecuted claims under the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act, the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act, and the Illinois Right of Publicity Act.

Tim has represented numerous individuals in discrimination and employment matters, including claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX, and the Illinois Gender Violence Act. Many of these clients came to him after experiencing harassment, discrimination, or gender-based violence, often in workplaces and schools where they felt they had no voice. Tim takes pride in making sure those clients are heard, treated with dignity, and given a fair opportunity to present their claims, and he has resolved dozens of discrimination matters before the EEOC and the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

Tim has also represented clients in domestic relations and foreclosure matters, guiding individuals and families through an unfamiliar legal system during some of the most difficult times of their lives, when their children, homes, and financial security are at stake. In those cases, he focuses on explaining the process in plain terms, so that clients understand their options and can make informed decisions.

Tim also served many corporate clients in commercial litigation matters involving breaches of contract, deceptive business practices, defaults in financing and security agreements, and breaches of representations and warranties.

In 2004, Tim launched the Chicago office of Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro with Beth Fegan, where he played a significant role in expanding the firm’s presence in the Midwest. At Hagens Berman, Tim gained extensive experience in class action litigation from the plaintiff’s perspective. While there, Tim often served as lead or co-lead counsel on cases involving antitrust, improper insurance practices, and consumer fraud.

From 1999 to 2003, Tim was an associate in the complex mass torts and insurance litigation department in the Chicago office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, representing corporate clients in class action, mass tort, products liability, and insurance matters in state and federal courts throughout the country and in international arbitration.

Prior to attending law school, Tim worked in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster where he handled high-exposure liability cases throughout the claims process. This role included factual investigation, coverage analysis and liability and damages determination.

Having represented plaintiffs and defendants, and having evaluated claims as an adjuster, Tim understands how each side sees a case. He uses that perspective to give clients a candid, plain-language assessment of the strengths and challenges of their position, so that injured people, older adults, and families unfamiliar with the legal system can make informed decisions about their own lives.

Tim earned his Juris Doctor, with honors, from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he served as a judicial extern for Judge Manning in the Northern District of Illinois, and his undergraduate degree from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Born and raised in DeKalb, he has called Kendall County home since 2017, where he is active in local youth sports and his children attend the local public schools.

Tim has served for three years on the executive board of the Kendall County Bar Association, as a board member, secretary, and vice-president, and will become its president in December 2026. He frequently coordinates bar association service outings to Feed My Starving Children, where Kendall County lawyers and their families pack meals for hungry children and families around the world, an expression of his belief that the legal community should serve those in need well beyond the courthouse.

Tim’s work has been recognized by his peers. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2021 and has been recognized each year since 2022 as one of the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers.
