Fight Emerges Over Whether Harvey Weinstein’s Studio Will Pay Him in Bankruptcy

Any claim Mr. Weinstein could make for payment in chapter 11 could be challenged by lawyers liquidating his studio and Weinstein Co. creditors. Lawyers overseeing the studio’s liquidation have objected to Mr. Weinstein’s pending request for business records that his attorneys say are needed for an accounting of the amount he is owed.

Elizabeth Fegan, a lawyer representing some of Mr. Weinstein’s alleged victims in a lawsuit against the studio, said the producer “wasted company funds to lure and assault women throughout the company’s existence.”

“Based on our investigation, we don’t see any basis for him to claim that he is owed money,” Ms. Fegan said in an email Friday.
