TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Susan Sherrer was lucky to get out of her Titusville home Jan. 4 with her two dogs Gemma and Lacy. She was frightened then, but now she’s angry.

WESH 2 Investigates has uncovered records that show her 2015 Hyundai Tucson is part of a new recall, issued last week by Korean sister companies Kia and Hyundai. The notice came a month too late to prevent the vehicle fire that erupted and scorched her home, causing her to scramble out with her pets.

She showed WESH 2 the hot spots on her carport wall and ceiling from the flames that shot 15 feet in the air. When she saw it, she said she rushed out the back door, kicking a hole in the screen to escape.
