In 2025, he joined Fegan Scott’s Chicago office as a complex litigation associate to assist the firm with its cases, especially those involving civil rights, discrimination, antitrust, consumer fraud, and sexual abuse and assault.

Before joining Fegan Scott, Derrick was a lawyer for Golan Christie Taglia LLP (“GCT”) in Chicago where his practice involved commercial litigation, various personal and business torts, bankruptcy representation, estate and trust disputes, and eminent domain. Prior to his time at GCT, he served as a term law clerk to the Honorable Janet S. Baer of the Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Derrick earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in history and minor in sociology from Indiana University Bloomington.
